Halo, Purely for Pets, America’s Premiere Holistic Pet Care Company Announces the Creation of Spot’s Stew “Luscious Lamb Recipe” for Dogs

(February 6, 2007) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Andi Brown, Founder of Halo, Purely for Pets, announced today that the company has released Spot’s Stew “Luscious Lamb Recipe” for dogs. Halo prepares all their food in a USDA-approved kitchen. The reasons Halo decided to add a lamb recipe for dogs was first and foremost to satisfy consumer demand. “Our customers enjoy being able to provide some variety to their pet’s holistic food and care. It’s also a great product for those who have pets that are sensitive to chickenl” Says Brown, “As we continue to be the driving force in the holistic pet food industry, Spot’s Stew ‘Luscious Lamb Recipe’ is the first in new and exciting products our company will release this year. I’m thrilled that we answered the call and have given our customers what they’ve asked for.”

The recipe, which adheres to Halo’s highest quality of preparation, is made from lamb muscle meat (a higher quality source of protein than organs) and does not include any chemicals or bi-products. Halo’s holistic pet care products can be found at independent pet stores, as well as Petco, Wild Oats, Whole Foods and Vitamin Shoppes around the country.

Brown is clearly passionate about her work; she decided to create her company in 1986 “to give pet lowners an option to commercial pet food. “For Halo, AAFCO standards do not meet our high level of quality for nutrition – so we choose to use human-grade ingredients and a USDA kitchen."

Andi Brown also promotes her new book, The Whole Pet Diet: Eight Weeks to Great Health for Dogs and Cats (Ten Speed Press), which shares great recipes she and her team have created at Halo. The book has gained much media attention since the controversial announcement that the FDA has cleared Slentrol, a new drug to be used for treating obese dogs. Andi Brown states, “Real food with natural ingredients should be a pet owner’s first choice in combating obesity; a drug should be their alternative. As we give ourselves the gift of whole foods, including great diet and nutrition, why not give the same gift to the pets you love? Halo is here to roll out more good food for our good friends.”
